We're Hiring: Lead Brewer
We're excited to be growing our team by seeking a Lead Brewer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing independent brewery with a 30-year history of producing high-quality, award-winning, beers of all styles.
Previous experience of commercial brewing is essential, with the successful candidate having proven people management skills, as well as the technical expertise to drive and nurture a brewing team focussed on quality. Working with a close-knit team, the Lead Brewer will be responsible for overseeing the daily brewing operation at our site in Harrogate, working closely with our Head Brewer.
Responsibilities include:
- Oversee daily brewing operations
- Provide guidance and technical support to brewers on brewing techniques and procedures
- Identify and address any quality issues / concerns that may arise during any given brew day
- Execute brewing operations according to established recipes, monitor and record all stages of the brewing process (timings, temperature, pH etc.) from mashing to packaging, ensuring correct stock rotation of all raw materials
- Perform quality checks and all necessary lab work, including analysis, throughout the brewing process to ensure consistency in flavour, ABV, and appearance
- Collaborate with the Head Brewer to develop new beer recipes and experiment with different ingredients
- Test new recipes and make adjustments as needed
Requirements:
- At least 3 years commercial brewing experience
- A proven track record of new recipe development
- Professional brewing qualification such as the IBD’s GCB or Diploma in Brewing
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Coaching, training, and mentoring capability
- Excellent problem-solving, reasoning skills, and process adherence
Desirables:
- Canning line operating experience
- Forklift licence
- Direct line management
- Experience in achieving SALSA
- Relevant educational qualifications such as Chemistry, Biology, Engineering.

This role is a full-time position based on 40 hours a week and occasional weekend work may be required.
