10p from every Pint of this year’s White Rose will be donated to Harrogate District Foodbank
Fancy a beer that gives back to the community? We’ve chosen Harrogate District Foodbank to be the recipient of this year’s fundraising from sales of White Rose, which has also been brewed to celebrate Yorkshire Day on August 1st. Over £850 will be donated, meaning every sip of this classic Rooster’s pale ale will help towards supporting a charity that aims to end food shortage in the Harrogate district.
We’ve been brewing our annual charity beer since 2011 and this year’s release means White Rose will have now raised over £10,000 for various local charities!
Dawn Cussons, Manager at Harrogate District Foodbank said: “The Foodbank opened up in Harrogate in 2013, with our Knaresborough site opening a year later and our Starbeck location following in 2021. We operate four times a week as a source for emergency food and run purely on donations with a team of volunteers, 88 in total.
As well as food being donated we also accept financial donations, which contributes towards our rent, the upkeep of the warehouse, and our trusty second-hand van, to top up any shortages at the warehouse in order to meet the needs at each centre. We also buy fresh fruit, vegetables, and bread four times a week and provide a hot meal for clients on a weekly basis, so we’re extremely grateful for Rooster’s support.”
Thanks to the charity, last year, 46 metric tonnes of emergency food was provided for people in Harrogate. In 2021, it was reported that the food bank has fed around 16,000 people since first opening.
10p for every pint of White Rose sold will be donated directly to Harrogate District Foodbank. Why not visit the charity’s website to find out how you can support them further? It provides regular updates on items needed, as well as further information on how to help.
As a small, family-owned business, with our roots in Harrogate, we’re pleased to support a different Yorkshire-based charity each year and we’re delighted that the funds raised from this year will be helping support the work Harrogate District Foodbank carries out. The beer will be available on the bar at our Taproom in Harrogate and is also being delivered to various pubs within the Harrogate area, throughout Yorkshire, and beyond. We hope you’ll join us in raising a glass, all the while helping to support a truly worthwhile cause in the comfort of your favourite pub.
Cheers!
