White Rose – 2016

As well as being patrons of Saint Michael’s Hospice, Rooster’s is proud to help other local charities, supporting local beer festivals and fundraising events where possible, as well as brewing White Rose each year, which is a beer from which we donate 10p for every pint sold to a local, Yorkshire-based charity. Over the past few years we have made donations to Henshaws, Martin House and, in 2015, a Knaresborough-based group raising funds for defibrillators to be installed in the Market Square.

This year we have chosen to support the Yorkshire Children’s Trust, which is a truly local charity, helping local children. It was set up in 2011 by parents with children suffering with cancer in the hope that they can offer support to families going through a similar difficult situation.

Founder, Simon Widdop said: “It’s heart-breaking watching your own child going through an illness such as leukaemia and it was a really difficult time for us as a family. We had to put our whole life on hold as our daughter was in hospital for a full year receiving treatment. I wanted to turn a big negative experience in our life into something positive that would help others, and I feel very happy that the charity is helping children and their families from all across Yorkshire.

“Although the charity helps families from all four corners of Yorkshire, it doesn’t receive any Government, Lottery or NHS funding so relies on the kind support of local people and local businesses to provide the invaluable support to our local community. The team are very excited to be working with Rooster’s, and it’s a great way for local people to support a great local charity while socialising with their friends and family.”

With Yorkshire Day (August 1st) just around the corner, White Rose, a cask-only beer, is being delivered to our trade customers over the next couple of weeks and we hope you’ll join us in raising a glass and helping to support a truly worthwhile cause in the process.

Cheers!

White Rose – 2016

WHAT WE'RE UP TO

all instagram blog

It has come to our attention that the cans of One Trick Pony, our recently released Rose Lemonade sour, carry some information on the labels regarding the beer’s suitability for vegans, which is incorrect.

Fancy a few light ales direct from the source, served by the brewers? We're opening our doors for the first time as a tap room on Saturday February 24th between 12pm and 6pm.

Welcome to the North, @beavertownbeer. We’re brewing up a fruity little number as part of our 25th Anniversary Collaboration Project, which will be jointly released at each brewery on February 24th. Cheers! 🍻

Our 4.3% cask special for February is Franklin, a pale ale brewed with a blend of Cascade and Chinook hops and named after Rooster’s founding brewer, Sean Franklin, who pioneered the use of these two hops in the UK a quarter of a century ago.

Oh, hai @hawksheadbrewery - look what’s just been delivered!

With 2018 being our 25th anniversary, we've delved into the archives and, throughout the next 12 months, we'll be sharing some newspaper and magazine clippings, old photos and artwork designs we've dug up from the last 25 years (some of which have never been made public before). We're kicking things off with this feature article on Sean Franklin (Rooster's founding brewer) from the January 1993 issue of CAMRA's What's Brewing magazine, written by Barrie Pepper. There's a first mention of Yankee in here too, which also turns 25 this year!

Consider our 25th Anniversary Collaboration Project officially launched! Northern Powerhouse - brewed with our friends from @magicrockbrewing - is available in cask, keg & can 👍🏻

We’re delighted to have our good friends from @hawksheadbrewery join us today to create an extra special beer as part of our 25th Anniversary Collaboration Project. Keep an eye on our Twitter feed for more info 👍🏻

Keep your peepers peeled and check the bottom of our limited edition 25th Anniversary Pale Ale cans when they launch in January. 25 cans will carry a message for you to get in touch, quote the unique code and claim your prize! T-shirts, glassware, koozies and more are up for grabs. Don’t worry if your can doesn’t have a code, you’ll at least have a tasty beer to enjoy 😀

It’s not every day that a brewery turns twenty-five, so we’ve decided to celebrate by brewing a bunch of beers with some of our favourite brewers and breweries across 2018.

The first of our 25th Anniversary Collaboration Project beers was brewed today and will be launched as part of a joint tap takeover with Magic Rock at North Bar in Leeds on January 10th 🍻👍🏻

@bryoniebrignall will have no regrets come tomorrow! #cluckyeah

We've teamed up with our friends at Taylors of Harrogate to develop a brand new black coffee IPA called Wake-Up Call.

This year's open day will take place on Saturday July 29th and we'll once again be joined by DJ Tony Safari, as well as Mac Daddies, Andy Annat's Crackerjack BBQ and Karkli's Chompmaster, Kumar.

We're delighted to share the news that Rooster's came away with a gold, silver and bronze medal at the 2017 International Brewing Awards.

Late last year we brewed a beer called Howl, which was a 6.8% imperial stout that was conditioned on rum barrel oak and released a cask-only limited edition beer in the run up to Christmas. What we didn’t tell anyone was that we squirreled 5 BBLs of the original beer away...

Rooster’s scooped five awards at the SIBA North East Beer Competition, which was held in York on September 14th.

This year we have chosen to support the Yorkshire Children’s Trust with the brewing of our annual charity fundraising beer, White Rose.

At the end of April we hooked up with our friends at The Bronx Brewery in New York to spend a day brewing with them...
